DHI vs. FUE: Choosing Between Hair Transplant Techniques

choosing between hair transplant techniques

When patients opt for hair transplantation, the next crucial decision is selecting the transplantation technique. Currently, the most advanced methods include Sapphire FUE and DHI. The FUE technique involves three stages: extracting hair follicles, creating channels for implantation, and planting the extracted follicles. Channels are opened using a microknife with a slender sapphire rod, giving rise to the term Sapphire FUE (follicle unit extraction).

When employing the DHI technique for transplantation, the hairs are initially extracted. Subsequently, with a specialized tool, the canal is opened, and the hair is simultaneously implanted (direct hair implantation). This technique is frequently chosen when the patient has a smaller balding area and prefers not to shave the hair in the transplant region. However, the donor area must still be shaved using any technique.

Essentially, there is no significant difference between the two techniques; the transplant outcome depends not on the technique but on the quantity and quality of the transplanted grafts, the doctor’s expertise, and your careful postoperative care while adhering to all recommendations. Send us a request and receive professional advice from our doctor on which technique would be the optimal choice for you.
